In the standard tree climber tie in on expanding loop with a
friction hitch known as DdRT (Doubled Rope Technique) opposed to climbing
SRT (Single Rope Technique); part of the reason the friction hitch slides
the mechanics of the loop. This mechanics doesn't seem to be part of
the SRT balance of advantages to DdRT.

Shown is 2 separate legs/lines of support. The
Blue on the Left, stands coldly solid/Static, as the Red on the Right
sinks. The Dynamic line/leg (Red/Right) maybe stretching, being
lowered, or even tearing apart etc.; and the pattern is always the
same. The Static (Blue/Left) immediately takes on more of the load
silently, even possibly being a hero; saving it's 'Buddy Leg' from
failing. |
